Green Without the Growth: Extended-Release Fertilizers

While maintaining strong, healthy turf with a consistent fertility schedule has a direct impact on playability and overall satisfaction, it also has an impact on mowing requirements. In many situations - labor constraints, minimizing disruption, reducing equipment wear and tear - keeping up with that mowing is difficult, if not impossible.

Utilizing fertilizers with slow or controlled-release nitrogen sources helps to achieve high turfgrass quality while avoiding overgrowth.

27-3-11 with Extend and NS-54®

Featuring 48% Extend polymer-coated slow-release nitrogen and 48% NS-54 polymer and sulfur-coated slow-release nitrogen, our 27-3-11 fertilizer provides extended feeding without excessive growth. Pairing these two nitrogen sources allows you to apply up to 1.5 pounds of nitrogen per 1000 square feet in a single application, with a release curve extending to 16 weeks.

25-3-10 with NS-54®

Our 25-3-10 fertilizer contains 95% NS-54 polymer and sulfur-coated slow-release nitrogen. This product can be applied up to 1.25 pounds of nitrogen per 1000 square feet, and provides a release curve of 6-8 weeks.

40-0-0 PCHCU®

Another extended-release fertilizer option is Polymer-Coated Humic-Coated Urea (PCHCU®), a 40-0-0 nitrogen source featuring our patented CarbonCoat™ Technology. PCHCU offers a release profile of up to 70 days and provides the benefits of humic acid, promoting root growth and increasing nitrogen efficiency.

Use the Turf Nutrition Tool to model the release curves of these and other extended-release nitrogen sources.
